More Signs Of Spring And The Flag Fairy

Each spring I look forward to the time that I see the first green shoots and the first buds on my ornamental trees.  It signals that spring is really on the way.
The crabapple tree will be covered with beautiful pink flowers which will give way to green little crabapples which will turn a brilliant red in the fall and stay there all winter to feed the birds and just look pretty on the bare branches.  The Japanese Plum is now covered with pretty white flowers which just adds to nature's spring colors.  Then I have in my neighborhood "The Flag Fairy" who keeps me up on all the latest season's flags.  This dear lady is actually who I call my "south south friend"  because she lives 2 doors down south from me.
I came home from a friend's funeral yesterday to find this adorable flag already hung on my pole, and another one laying on my front porch bench to be put up a little later in the summer.   God's blessings are everywhere we look from nature to dear friends who are always looking for ways to bless us!!

A Touch Of Spring!!

I love seeing these perky yellow flowers each spring!  They are the first ones to brave the early spring weather changes and always brighten my day when I see them.   Even though it is cloudy and cool today, they add a bit of sunshine!!

Getting Ready

Well, the time has finally come!  I'm getting ready for spring and summer working over my bushes and flowerbeds.  Always so much work, but so worth it as flowers start blooming and the bushes green out and bloom.  As the pics show, it doesn't look like much now.   Check back in a month or two and hopefully, you'll see a transformation!
So thankful for the nice rain we got a few days ago to help things along and make the ground easier to work.

Amazing!!!

This is what greeted me this morning when I looked out of my west window!  Couldn't believe what I was seeing!  I ran for the camera, took a couple of pics, then called and woke my neighbor, Charly, up so she could get some pics with her good camera.  I think these are gulls.  I have seen bunches of black birds together, but never these before in this big of flock!  I couldn't believe my eyes!

Beautiful Day!!!

I haven't been out in it much, yet, but will soon!  Finally after days of cloudy and chilly, an awesome day!  Think we all needed this to lift our spirits.  I think God gives us those days, so we'll really appreciate these sunny days!  I've still been in the creative mode, but with the nicer weather I can see me wanting to be outside in my flowerbeds. Another one of my favorite things is working with my flowers and yard, so creating may be put on hold any day now.

I've had a lot of fun designing and making the cards!  I really can't call it work, because I enjoy it so much.  I get so involved in it that the afternoon is gone before I know it, and I've enjoyed searching out cute materials for my sewing projects.  This may be a good pass time for when we get those hot summer days, and they will come before we know it!

Is This Really February?

Amazing!!
Well, one thermometer said 77 and the other 80, but either way, WOW!! What a change from a couple of weeks ago.  Have gone from using the heater full blast to stripping comforters off the bed.  I hear that we might get back to February weather next week, but I'm enjoying today, opening windows and a much needed car wash!

Valentine's Day & A Few A New Things!

Goodies From Hubby & Kids
Valentine's day has a special meaning to me because it is also the day that Bob and I got married in Las Vegas in a little Baptist church 21 years ago.  He said he planned it that way, so he would just have to remember it all on one day!  It was the first time I had ever flown in an airplane and the farthest I had been from Oklahoma was Colorado, Kansas, and Missouri.  Quite a trip for a little old small town gal, But we had a blast!
Bible Cover

New Prints Tater Bags
Been surfing the net and found a cute pattern for a bible cover, so decided to give it a try.  It has a pocket inside for a couple of pencils and will fit a 9x14 inch bible.  I found these cute prints recently at Hobby Lobby (my favorite store) and thought they would make cute tater bags.  My tater bags now have a new kind of batting in them by The Warm Company that is supposed to be safer for heating and insulating the bags.

These are a few of the projects I have worked on this winter. I am renewing my interest in sewing and crocheting that was put on hold all the years that I worked.  I am finding that I never have time to be bored with the many things that I love to do!!!  I love working on small projects that can be completed in a day or an afternoon.

Wow!!! Have You Ever Felt Lost???

Well, that's how I feel right now!  I am trying to get my blog page set up and am finding out that I am not as computer literate as I thought I was.  They say though that it is good to learn new things to keep the brain fog from setting in, and I need all the help I can get there!  Thank goodness,  I have a daughter-in-law who is very much computer literate,  and can help me out.
That picture above is my view from my west window on South 14th.  Pretty to look out at, but not so much fun if you have to be out in it.  I Am really looking forward to next week when they say we will have some spring like temperatures, and we can quit layering our clothes to keep warm!
I was blessed this morning to get to spend time with my two precious little guys, Hunter and Winston.  They warm me up to paraphrase Hunter.  Then the boys, Marshalene, and I met  papa at Taco Mayo for lunch.
