Pics From Our Roadtrip Last Weekend

Last weekend we made a short roadtrip to Dodge City and Garden City, Kansas to go to my sister, JoAnn's estate sale.  These are just a few of the pics I got along the way.  This trip was kind of hard for me because of memories of past trips to visit my brother and sister at Dodge and Ingalls, Kansas.  They have since passed away, and so the trips to western Kansas will not be as frequent.  I still have many nieces and nephews at Ingalls and a very dear sister-in-law in Dodge City, so there will be more trips in the future.  It will just be different. Many Thanksgivings and other holidays were spent at my sister, JoAnn's house going back to before I was a teenager and when my boys were little.  They always loved to go to Uncle Vernon and Aunt JoAnn's house and go see their fun loving Uncle Kenny & Aunt Donna, so many good memories of fun times!

More Signs Of Spring And The Flag Fairy

Each spring I look forward to the time that I see the first green shoots and the first buds on my ornamental trees.  It signals that spring is really on the way.
The crabapple tree will be covered with beautiful pink flowers which will give way to green little crabapples which will turn a brilliant red in the fall and stay there all winter to feed the birds and just look pretty on the bare branches.  The Japanese Plum is now covered with pretty white flowers which just adds to nature's spring colors.  Then I have in my neighborhood "The Flag Fairy" who keeps me up on all the latest season's flags.  This dear lady is actually who I call my "south south friend"  because she lives 2 doors down south from me.
I came home from a friend's funeral yesterday to find this adorable flag already hung on my pole, and another one laying on my front porch bench to be put up a little later in the summer.   God's blessings are everywhere we look from nature to dear friends who are always looking for ways to bless us!!

A Touch Of Spring!!

I love seeing these perky yellow flowers each spring!  They are the first ones to brave the early spring weather changes and always brighten my day when I see them.   Even though it is cloudy and cool today, they add a bit of sunshine!!

Getting Ready

Well, the time has finally come!  I'm getting ready for spring and summer working over my bushes and flowerbeds.  Always so much work, but so worth it as flowers start blooming and the bushes green out and bloom.  As the pics show, it doesn't look like much now.   Check back in a month or two and hopefully, you'll see a transformation!
So thankful for the nice rain we got a few days ago to help things along and make the ground easier to work.

Amazing!!!

This is what greeted me this morning when I looked out of my west window!  Couldn't believe what I was seeing!  I ran for the camera, took a couple of pics, then called and woke my neighbor, Charly, up so she could get some pics with her good camera.  I think these are gulls.  I have seen bunches of black birds together, but never these before in this big of flock!  I couldn't believe my eyes!
